History Department Graduate Awards & Prizes

The Department of History recognizes outstanding graduate student achievement through a range of awards and prizes that support research, teaching, and professional development. These honors reflect the department’s commitment to scholarly excellence and acknowledge graduate students at key stages of their academic and professional trajectories.

Awards may support archival and field research, conference travel, dissertation completion, pedagogical innovation, and public-facing scholarship. Prizes are typically awarded on a competitive basis and are adjudicated by faculty committees. Eligibility criteria and application procedures vary by award.

Through these opportunities, the department seeks to foster rigorous historical inquiry, encourage interdisciplinary and transnational research, and support graduate students as they prepare for careers in academia, education, and the public sector.
