Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.  The  Hispanic Heritage Month Committee (HHM), made up of students, faculty and staff at Stony Brook University, has been honoring this nationally-designated month of celebration for over 25 years.  In addition to sponsoring various events during the month, the HHM presents awards to outstanding students and administrators in recognition of their achievements and contributions to the lives of Hispanics/Latinos on campus and beyond.
