Global Student Ambassadors and GSI staff will guide you on a day-trip to New York
City. Take your picture in Times Square, wander the halls of the Metropolitan Museum
of Art, explore the hustle and bustle of Wall Street, or stroll the High Line!
Tanger Outlet Mall, Riverhead
Outlet (discount) shopping is an American tradition! Spend a day at the popular Tanger
Outlet Mall in Riverhead for discounted shopping at 130+ name brand stores.
Beach
The south shore of Long Island is home to numerous public beaches. Dip your toes
in the Atlantic Ocean, relax on the sand, and experience Long Island beach culture!
Alive After 5
Experience the biggest street festival on Long Island! Main Street in Patchogue is
closed to cars with live music, street vendors, and food trucks.
Broadway Musical
Experience the magic of Broadway with discounted tickets! This matinee viewing allows
you to spend the rest of the evening exploring New York City.
Port Jefferson Village
Spend your evening strolling Port Jeff Village, a popular beach town on Long Island!
Load up on ice cream, visit the shops, or eat dinner at one of the many local restaurants.

Beyond the Brook
Stony Brook is located at the geographic midpoint of Long Island. The campus lies about 60 miles east of New York City and 60 miles west of Montauk Point. It is only a short distance to the beaches of Fire Island and the historic monuments and museums of New York City.
Beyond the Brook was developed to provide students with all the information needed to explore what Long Island and New York City has to offer socially, culturally, and recreationally.
