Packing

Below are some tips for you to consider when packing.

Masks

GSI recommends students travel with a minimum one-week supply of face masks in their carry-on luggage, as local and Stony Brook University mask policies are subject to change.

Electronic Devices

Students from countries with different plug shapes and electricity voltages (110 volts) are encourage to bring a power plug adapter for their electronics.  American appliances run on 110 volts; high-voltage electric appliances like hair dryers may not work.

Phone

Students can request data roaming service from their telephone company or purchase a sim card. To be able to use a sim card, the phone must be unlocked. Please consult with your phone service provider for more information.

Bedding

Students will need to purchase or bring their own bedding to campus.  Bedding service will not be provided.

Cooking Appliances

The West Apartments are equipped with a full size refrigerator, electric range, and microwave. All the other cooking appliances are not provided.
