Prof. Jason Trelewicz invited to serve on the Turner Fellowship Committee.
December 17, 2013
Jason will serve as a member of the Turner Fellowship Advisory Committee with a term
of service of two years. The Turner Fellowship Program, which began in 1987, serves
to enhance educational opportunities to underrepresented and/or disadvantaged students
in Stony Brook’s graduate programs.
EMNL welcomes Master’s student Mr. Yang Zhang.
December 1, 2013
Yang comes to Stony Brook University with a BS from Nanjing University, China. His
Master’s research will focus on atomistic simulations of stress-induced grain growth
in nanocrystalline metals.
EMNL and ReliaCoat Technologies receive a Phase I Army SBIR award for “Dual-Phase
Nanocomposite Structures for Enhancing Ductility in Tungsten Alloys”.
September 24, 2013
This research aims to develop bulk tungsten alloys with improved ductility using nanocomposite
structures that match microstructural and mechanical length scales as next generation
munition materials.
Prof. Jason Trelewicz presents an invited talk at Sandia National Laboratories.
May 21, 2013
Jason’s talk on “Nanostructured Alloys: Making Small Grains Stable and Strong” described
thermodynamic models for nanostructure stability, and the emergence of glass-like
plasticity in stable nanocrystalline Ni-W alloys as grain size approaches the amorphous
limit.
