Engaging Undergraduates in Research Lecture Series

This lecture series, starting in the 2023-2024 academic year, aims to strengthen ties between institutions in the greater New York and New England area conducting high-level research with a primarily-undergraduate student body and the Department of Chemistry. We recognize the importance of undergraduate research experience in developing the next generation of chemists and the key role that PUIs serve in this endeavor. As part of this program, Department of Chemistry faculty will host a professor from a local PUI for a seminar visit at SBU and then reciprocate by visiting the PUI for a seminar, both funded by the Department of Chemistry. In this way, both scientific and interpersonal relationships can be developed between faculty in the Department of Chemistry and at local PUIs, ideally leading to opportunities for collaboration and student research experiences.
