Undergraduate Biology and Biochemistry Convocation for Spring 2026 will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 12:00pm in the Island Federal Arena.

Commencement Information

Sixty-Fifth Annual Commencement

Stony Brook University will hold its Sixty-Fifth Annual Commencement at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 22, 2026. The ceremony will take place in LaValle Stadium at the University Sports Complex. This university-wide event celebrates the entire graduating class.

Biology and Biochemistry Convocation Ceremony

A separate Convocation Ceremony specifically for Biology Majors and Minors and Biochemistry Majors is scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 12:00 PM in the Stony Brook Arena. During this departmental ceremony, each candidate will be individually recognized. Participating graduates are required to assemble for the convocation at 11:00 AM in Pritchard Gym.

Ticketing and Guest Information

Please be aware that the Biology and Biochemistry Convocation is a ticketed event. Students who register via Undergraduate Biology Form will receive three tickets each. Additionally, a livestream of the ceremony will be provided; further details and links can be found on the official Stony Brook Commencement website.

Eligibility and Registration

Students graduating in December 2025, January 2026, May 2026, August 2026, and December 2026 are all eligible to participate in this Spring 2026 Department Ceremony. All attendees must register for pictures prior to coming to the ceremony using the link below. Please be sure to save your registration number to include on the photo card for the day of the BIO/BCH Convocation Ceremony

Robing Instructions

Instructions for all candidates on wearing the official University Regalia

Students should arrive at Pritchard Gym at 11:00 AM with their regalia already on.
Faculty and staff will be available to assist with the proper draping of hoods and securing of tassels.
