Applying for an Undergradate TA Position
Students who enroll in GLI 402 are invited to apply for an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant (TA) position, which will take place in Summer 2022.

T.A. eligibility
Undergraduate applicants must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for a T.A. position:
- Enrolled in GLI 402: Democracy and Justice for All (Request permission to enroll in GLI 402)
- In Good Academic Standing in the University
- Affiliated with the University through Summer Session II 2022 (students can not have graduated before Summer Session II 2022)
- At least 18 years of age by July 10, 2022.
- Must pass a standard background check.
- Note that priority will be given to applicants in the University’s Educational Opportunity Program and to Alumni of the Academy of Civic Life.
How to apply
Before completing your application, review the TA position description.
TA applications are due on February 4, 2022 by 11:59pm ET.
Here is what you will need to do to apply:
1. Write a personal statement (~500 words).

- As you write, consider the following questions:
- Why are you a great fit for the Academy of Civic Life?
- Do you have any relevant personal or professional experiences that would relate to the responsibilities required of the Undergraduate TAs?
- Why do you want to work with students from underserved high schools?
- Why are you interested in improving college access and/or teaching students about the humanities?

2. Write a 1-2 page resume.

- You can use the University's Career Center to learn more about writing your resume.

3. Find two references.

- Ask two previous professors, counselor, coaches, supervisors, etc. for permission to list them as a reference on this application. (We recommend contacting contact potential references at least 2 weeks before the application deadline).

4. Obtain copies of your college transcripts.

- Unofficial transcripts are acceptable.
- If you attended more than one college, make sure to get copies of your transcripts from all of the institutions you attended.

5. Submit your Academy of Civic Life Undergraduate TA application online.
