Academic Affairs supports academic policies and guideline for the university, including parts of the promotion and tenure process, as well as academic innovation and program development.
The Provost's Office is responsible for sustaining and empowering academic excellence and sound budgetary practices across the range of programs in Stony Brook University's colleges, schools, centers and institutes.
We work with partners across Stony Brook to set priorities and make decisions that align with the University's five-part mission.
Vice provosts, including at the senior associate and associate ranks, are Stony Brook's senior academic administrators.
They help set priorities and strategic goals across the Provost's Office, and oversee the implementation of those plans in their areas of focus and expertise. They work closely with the provost, deans, and other academic leaders to guide and support the university's teaching, research, and service efforts.
