Benedict Robinson and his cat
Benedict S. Robinson specializes in early modern literature, 1500-1800, with a focus on Shakespeare. His connecting interests include literary theory, the history of science, the history of philosophy, and theories of fictionality. His essays have appeared in PMLA, Critical Inquiry, ELH, SEL, and elsewhere. His most recent book is Passion's Fictions from Shakespeare to Richardson: Literature and the Sciences of Soul and Mind (Oxford, 2021). His edition of Antony and Cleopatra is forthcoming as part of the Arden 4 series in 2027. He received his Ph.D. from Columbia University in 2001.
