About Us

Stony Brook University is committed to providing a safe and caring environment for our students. Through the Center for Prevention and Outreach (CPO) we offer a wide range of services to address student concerns about mental health, alcohol and other substances, healthy relationships, sexual violence and physical health.

Our focus is on prevention and early intervention, and we strive to provide knowledge and resources to individuals so they can take care of themselves. We also provide a network of care for those in need of support.

We have four departments, each emphasizing a critical area of prevention and outreach: Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Sexual Assault and Physical Health.

Our diverse group of professional staff, student peer educators, and volunteers provides education, and advocacy services in each of these areas. In addition, we offer training, information sessions, and consultation for faculty and staff who may be concerned about a student or about issues impacting students. Our students' safety and health are our top priorities.

Our office is open Monday - Friday from 8:30 am - 5 pm.
