X-STACK: Programming Environments for Scientific Computing
This is a canvass to determine whether an internal competition will be necessary for this limited submission program. If you are interested in applying to this program, you must notify OPD by submitting the internal competitions form. Pre-applications are not yet required.
The DOE is now accepting applications for X-STACK: Programming Environments for Scientific Computing to explore innovative approaches to creating, verifying, validating, optimizing, maintaining, and executing scientific software targeting distributed, heterogeneous, high-performance computing platforms. Stony Brook University may submit no more than TWO pre-applications or applications as the lead institution.
Please see below for details. If you are interested in applying, you must submit the internal competitions form by Tuesday, February 16, 2021. The competition code for this program is LC202118.
WHAT DOES IT FUND: Each pre-application and application must address at least one of two research areas:
- Automated test synthesis: Innovative methods for automatically generating tests for scientific applications to ensure that, within scientifically-relevant regimes, their behavior meets user-defined requirements and they function with the required level of equivalence across different distributed, heterogeneous, HPC platforms.
- Parallel-programming-model translation: Innovative methods enabling the transformation of scientific applications that make use of one parallel-programming model into applications that target heterogeneous systems using a different parallel programming model.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS: No restrictions.
AWARD: Up to $300,000 per year for 3 years.
SPONSOR DEADLINE: Pre-applications due March 1, 2021. Applications due April 12, 2021.
