Improving Epilepsy Education, Systems of Care, and Health Outcomes through National and Community Partnerships
This is a canvass to determine whether an internal competition will be necessary for this limited submission program. If you are interested in applying to this program, you must notify OPD by submitting the internal competitions form. Pre-applications are not yet required.
The CDC has announced Improving Epilepsy Education, Systems of Care, and Health Outcomes through National and Community Partnerships to address four key areas:
- Improve the social environment for people with epilepsy.
- Strengthen the health system to improve epilepsy care.
- Foster connections between clinical services and community programs.
- Address social determinants of health to improve quality of life for people with epilepsy.
Stony Brook University may submit ONE proposal to this program.

WHAT DOES IT FUND: The NOFO will fund two types of recipients: an organization to provide services in at least 25 states, and 1-3 organizations to work in specific geographic areas (e.g. community, state, region). Funded projects are expected to make a contribution toward the long-term outcomes of improving social participation among people withepilepsy, reducing public stigma ofepilepsy, and improving health and quality of life among people withepilepsy.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS: No restrictions.
AWARD:
- Component A: One award will be funded under Component A to an organization that will reach a national audience (at least 25 states). The Component A recipient will be funded up to $3,500,000 per year.
- Component B: One to 3 awards will be funded under Component B. Recipients will be funded up to $150,000 per year for addressing one strategy and up to $300,000 per year for addressing two strategies. Component B organizations must identify the geographic area where program activities will be implemented (e.g. locally in a city or county, state-wide, regionally across state lines, nationally, or another geographic unit).
- Duration of awards is 5 years.
