Academic advisors are here to support you. Advising offices will provide opportunities for
advising that prioritize both your safety and academic success. Please use the information
below to guide your outreach to advisors.
Important updates to the petition process
Academic and Transfer Advising Services
ATAS* students: We know this is an extremely challenging time and we will be providing
support remotely. As your first option, we encourage you to go to our Frequently
Asked Questions page at
stonybrook.edu/advising. Many of your questions will be answered through this quick process. If you cannot
find the answers you need, please make a virtual advising appointment through
Navigate. Academic advising appointments will be posted every Friday afternoon for the following
week. We look forward to connecting with you.

Sciences, College of Business, School of Journalism, and School of Marine and Atmospheric
Sciences; all undergraduate students who have transfer credit questions or questions
about their college-level exams such as AP, IB, etc.
Athletics Academic Advising
Athletics Academic Advising will be providing virtual or remote services to students
via phone, video chat, and email. Please contact the Academic Advisor for your specific

Advising services of the Undergraduate Biology office will be offered remotely, beginning
Monday, March 23rd, 2020 until further notice. To receive advising, please make an
appointment on the Navigate platform. All appointments will be conducted via the Google
Meet or Zoom platforms and once an appointment has been made, you will receive further
information on how to join the video conference. If you are unable to participate
in a Google Meet or Zoom appointment, please contact an advisor for further instructions.

The Office of Student Services in the College of Business will continue to be available
during normal business hours (8:30 am - 5:00 pm), Monday - Friday via email, phone,

College of Engineering and Applied Sciences - Undergraduate Student Office
Advising and services of the CEAS Undergraduate Student Office will only be offered
remotely beginning Monday, March 16, 2020 until further notice. To receive advising

Conditional Reinstatement Advising for CAS/SoMAS/SOJ
Students who are approved for
(continuing, deferred or stopped out) and have
as their assigned advisor can schedule an advising appointment via Navigate (

EOP will provide remote support to all of their students to ensure a continued high
level of support and access to resources during this unprecedented situation. All
EOP advisors will be meeting with students via email, phone, Zoom, or Google Hangouts
and appoinments will continue to be made through Navigate. Tutorial needs will continue
to be met for one-on-one, group and walk-in meetings via a virtual format. It is
our hope that there will be a seamless transition to the virtual model but ask for

The Undergraduate Colleges will now offer remote advising appointments. All students
will receive a detailed message from your Undergraduate College Advisor(s) offering
you the opportunity to sign up for an appointment in Navigate. Please select a day
and time that works best for you, and an advisor will be in touch with you to set
up either a Google Meet or Zoom meeting.
University Scholars Advisors will be moving to virtual appointments, either through
email (which is preferred) or via Google Hangouts. Students requesting a Google Hangout
appointment must email their advisor first in order to set this up. First- and second-year
students may schedule advising appointments with Dr. Nancy Puchner (
