Startalk Turkish 2015 Startalk Korean 2015

 What is STARTALK?

The Language Learning Research Center (LLRC) at Stony Brook University is proud to host its third STARTALK program for high school students and college undergraduates. The program provides an opportunity to complete a semester of Arabic, Korean, Persian or Turkish in just six weeks. These beginner's level courses are designed to teach the language through student-centered, creative, interpersonal, presentational, and interpretive tasks, which allow students to build speaking, listening, reading and writing skills as well as intercultural competence. In addition to class instruction, this summer program features organized field trips to relevant cultural sites, guest speakers on topics which tie into our theme, and film screenings. Our courses are the ideal platform to prepare for continued study of those languages both here and abroad.

All courses will be offered during  Summer Session 2 (July 11 - Aug. 20, 2016). Arabic and Korean are taught in the traditional face-to-face format, under the designators ARB 111 and KOR 111. Persian and Turkish are offered online, with the inclusion of direct interaction with the instructors. PER 111 and TRK 111 are now officially open for registration.

The STARTALK 2016 Program at Stony Brook is a non-residential program. Students are advised to manage their own housing and transportation during the program period.
