Extent, Scope, and Content Note
The collection consists of five cubic ft. of correspondence, meeting minutes, reports, and published materials created by the League of Women Voters, Town of Oyster Bay (New York) chapter of the national bipartisan political organization. This chapter of the league was organized in 1960 and disbanded in 1985.

Historical Note
The New York State Board of the League of Women Voters of New York voted provisional league status to the pre-provisional league of Oyster Bay in June 1959. Full league status was granted by the national board in 1960. This collection was acquired from this chapter's league office in the home of Laura Berensen, the retiring secretary. Berensen was a former member and officer of the chapter and stated it disbanded during its twenty-fifth anniversary in 1985.
