Historical Note
New York State Senator Leon E. Giuffreda (1913-1999) was a Republican, 1st District, Suffolk County, New York, (eastern Suffolk County), and civic leader. Giuffreda was a member of the New York State Senate from 1966 to 1976, sitting in the 176th, 177 th, 178 th, 179 th, 180 th and 181 st New York State Legislatures. He chaired the Committee on Labor and Industry and the Education Committee. His resolution for a Bill of Rights for the Handicapped was approved by the Education Commission of the States. He also served as a Brookhaven Town Justice, a member of the Brookhaven Town Board, a Commissioner of the Centereach Fire Department, and a member and president of his local school board. The senator's office staff and aides included John J. Casarino, Legislative Aide, Carol Court, and Kenneth P. LaValle.
