Pamela Matzner headshotPamela Matzner is the director of the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) and a part-time lecturer in the School of Communication and Journalism at Stony Brook University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in media, communications, and technology and media studies from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in counseling with a concentration in college student development from Long Island University-CW Post.

With 26 years of experience at Stony Brook University, Pam has been dedicated to promoting access and equity in higher education for underserved student populations. EOP at Stony Brook comprises approximately 800 students, and Pam serves on various local and state-wide committees focused on advocacy for increasing educational opportunities. She is passionate about helping students develop and reach their full potential, despite the societal inequities they may have faced before attending Stony Brook.

In addition to her work with EOP, Pam has always aspired to be a public speaking instructor. Since joining the School of Communication and Journalism in 2021, she has felt a deep connection to this role and is thrilled to help students build these essential skills.

Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Pam now resides on Long Island with her husbland and their two sons.
