PEP Legacy Documents
Stony Brook University has been educating pre-service teachers and teacher-leaders for decades. Previously, the academic programs and accreditation were administered by the Professional Education Program (PEP), which became D-TALE in 2017. During the transition from PEP to D-TALE, PEP resources were integrated into the D-TALE website.
Guide to Teacher Education
The dedicated group of professors and administrators from PEP created the Guide to Teacher Education, which delineates the foundational philosophy underpinning the program and how that philosophy is realized in students' coursework and field experiences.
PEP Conceptual Framework
An abridged framework is available within the above guide; the full version here,
however, offers a holistic view of teacher prep at Stony Brook: the vision, the mission,
and practical pathways to certification.
