Opportunities to Make a Difference
@ the School of Social Welfare
Your gift, no matter the amount, matters. Your ongoing philanthropic support creates the margin of excellence that advances the School of Social Welfare’s commitment to building a more equitable society based on the values of human dignity, inclusiveness, diversity, equality, and on economic, environmental and social justice. Your support allows us to educate and shape the future generation of social workers.
Your investments will provide students with scholarships , test preparation classes for the licensing exam through the L Fund , and continue our research in many areas of study throughout social work.
Your gift to the School of Social Welfare Fund for Excellence is invested in the areas of the School where support is needed most, including scholarships, research by our faculty and students, and in creating the margin of excellence at the School of Social Welfare.
In an effort to support our MSW graduates to prepare for and pass the licensing exam immediately after graduation, Stony Brook has created the “L Fund (Licensing Fund) prep program.”
This fund aims to ease the burden that comes along with preparing for the licensing exam after our students have completed their MSW coursework.
Your gift to the L Fund ensures that our graduates will be well prepared to pass the examination on their first attempt (immediately after graduation) and will join our many alumni and friends as successful alumni and professional colleagues.
Please support the L Fund here. (Add "LFund" in the search field)

A gift of appreciated securities may be an advantageous way for you to give to Stony Brook University’s School of Social Welfare while avoiding or reducing capital gains taxes.
If you choose to use depreciated securities to make your gift, in most cases, it will be more advantageous to sell the shares and give the proceeds to the School of Social Welfare.
Please consult with your legal and financial advisor.
