We encourage faculty and staff to contact the Office of Foundation Relations before
reaching out to a private foundation directly. Many foundations require communication
to go through a university’s central foundation relations office — and for good reason.
Our team has a comprehensive view of Stony Brook’s current and historical relationships with foundation partners. We can advise on:
- Existing or pending proposals and grants
- Strategic timing for outreach
- Active conversations or negotiations
- Institutional priorities and recent engagements
By coordinating with us early, you can:
