Adam Roughley is the Chief Privacy Officer at Stony Brook University, where he leads the development, implementation and oversight of a comprehensive privacy program that supports Stony Brook University's academic, research and administrative functions. He partners closely with Stony Brook Medicine privacy and compliance leaders to ensure coordination and consistency across enterprise privacy practices.
Adam brings deep expertise in U.S. and international privacy law, regulatory compliance, institutional risk management, and emerging issues in AI governance. He most recently served as Privacy Counsel at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and has held various privacy and legal roles across the technology, research, consulting, and healthcare sectors.
Adam earned his Bachelor of Arts from Binghamton University and his Juris Doctor from St. John's University School of Law. He is a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP) with the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and holds professional certifications in domestic and international privacy law, as well as AI governance. Adam is licensed to practice law in the State of New York.
