Jihae Yun

Piano Instructor

Born in South Korea, Jihae Yun is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree in Professor Christina Dahl’s studio at Stony Brook University, where she also serves as Head Piano TA.

She graduated with both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Piano Performance from Dongduk Women’s University. In 2014, she traveled to Katowice, Poland, to meet Kum Sing Lee, the former teacher of her own teacher, Noel McRobbie. From 2015 to 2020, she studied with Kum Sing Lee at the Vancouver Academy of Music, where she completed an Artist Diploma.

In 2022, she joined the Rebecca Penneys Chamber Collectives at the University of South Florida under Professor Svetozar Ivanov. As a member of the RPCC, she expanded her chamber music repertoire and collaborative experience. In the summer of 2023, she participated in music festivals across Europe. In Northern Ireland, she received the Culture Ireland Award for her performance of Elaine Agnew’s commissioned work “Saint Francis”. In Italy, her piano trio received the Rutenberg Series Award at the Brancaleoni Music Festival. The trio was subsequently invited to perform as guest artists in the Steinway Piano Series/Rutenberg Chamber Series in Tampa in 2024. Upon graduating from USF, she was honored with the Exemplary Student Award.

Outside of music, she enjoys reading and spending time with her two beloved dogs.
