BAROQUE SUNDAYS @ 3pm 2026-2027 Season
Our 30th Spectacular Season
This is Long Island’s leading early music series dedicated to historical informed performance of early music.
September 6, 2026 – AWESOME ALUMS
Our season opens with two brilliant Stony Brook alums, Dylan Sauerwald and Corinne
Byrne, harpsichord and soprano, presenting an intimate duo recital of German baroque
lieder and keyboard music. The nearly-unknown baroque lied repertoire is full of exquisite
delicacy, sparkling wit, and deeply felt emotion, and cast an intriguing light on
the celebrated keyboard masterpieces of the same era.
What a way to get your musical Autumn started!
November 22, 2026 – STONY BROOK BAROQUE PLAYERS
The Stony Brook Baroque Players return for their annual pre-Thanksgiving concert featuring vocal and instrumental music from the 17th and 18th centuries. Don’t miss hearing the cream of the crop of Stony Brook’s graduate treasures!
January 31, 2027 – EL ANTIGUO MODO
Please join us for one of the most unusual concerts that we have ever produced. Alum and Baroque harpist, Christa Patton, will bring an afternoon of Spanish vocal and instrumental music to our series. This concert will explore newly discovered works from 17th c. Iberia and its diaspora. This rich poetic landscape is illuminated by the music of master composers Juan Hidalgo, Juan de Návas, José Marín, Cristóbal Galán, Santago de Murcia, and Diego Fernadez de Huete.
March 14, 2027 – HARPSICHORD EXTRAVAGANZA
The Stony Brook harpsichord studio will present a virtuoso afternoon of music for one and two harpsichords with strings. What’s better than one harpsichord? TWO of them on stage at the same time! Don’t miss this golden and glittery concert.
April 18, 2027 – STONY BROOK BAROQUE PLAYERS
Our season closes with the amazing Stony Brook Baroque Players – 17th and 18th century music from all corners of Europe – that show off Stony Brook’s fabulous graduate students. Come celebrate Spring with us!
