Brazilian double bassist Dante Tramontin de Paula is a versatile performer and educator whose work encompasses orchestral, chamber, and pedagogical settings. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts at Stony Brook University, where he studies with Nina Bernat, and has performed extensively in Brazil and the United States.

pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts at Stony Brook University, where he studies with
Nina Bernat, and has performed extensively in Brazil and the United States.His orchestral experience includes performances with the Orquestra Experimental de Repertório in São Paulo and the Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra, among other ensembles. In 2026, he performed in Patricia Kopatchinskaja’s Dies Irae at Princeton University Chapel as part of its East Coast premiere. His musical interests include orchestral and chamber music, as well as the exploration and performance of the double bass repertoire.
He holds a Master's degree in Double Bass Performance from Penn State University, where he studied with Patricia Weitzel and served as a Teaching Assistant for the double bass studio. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Double Bass from São Paulo State University (UNESP), studying with Valerie Albright.
As an educator, Dante is particularly interested in double bass pedagogy and the development of young musicians. His teaching combines a strong technical foundation with musical curiosity, encouraging students to develop their own artistic voices in a collaborative and supportive environment.
