Key Focus Areas

The institute engages an expert team of researchers, educators and investigators dedicated to pursuing advanced energy solutions.  It will work closely with the clean tech community in bringing together business and government leaders, policymakers and researchers in developing innovative programs to deploy advanced energy technologies developed at the AERTC at Stony Brook University. The institute will focus on the following technology areas:

• Supply Diversification: Low Carbon and Renewables
• Energy Efficiency and Building Science
• Combustion
• Safety and Environmental Impacts
• Advanced Metering
• Big Data Management
• Transportation

The initiative has two basic functions: 1) an academically rigorous independent source of information and analysis on gas technology and related energy policies and 2) a portfolio of research projects proposed and supported by the institute members as well as other interested parties.
