MIC Related Research | Dr. Virginia Yip
Virginia Yip is Professor and Director of the Childhood Bilingualism Research Centre at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She received her BA and PhD in linguistics
from the University of Texas at Austin from the University of Southern California
respectively. Her research interests include bilingualism and multilingualism, second
language acquisition, Cantonese and comparative Chinese grammar, psycholinguistics
and cognitive science. She is the author of Interlanguage and Learnability (John Benjamins) and co-author of Cantonese: A Comprehensive Grammar, Basic Cantonese and Intermediate Cantonese (Routledge), and The Bilingual Child: Early Development and Language Contact (Cambridge University Press) which received the Leonard Bloomfield Book Award from
the Linguistic Society of America in 2009. She serves on the editorial board of Bilingualism: Language and Cognition, International Journal of Bilingualism, Second Language Research and Multilingual Education.
