American Connections to Asia with Dr. Peggy Christoff Saturday, March 7, 2015
On September 20, Peg Christoff presented a paper, "Asian Connections to America: Experiential
Teaching with a State-by-State Approach," at the Mid-Atlantic Association for Asian
Studies/NYAsian Studies Annual Conference. The purpose was to introduce the importance
of learning about Asian root cultures in an introductory course on Asian studies.
With examples gathered from state historical societies, art museums, and humanities
councils in a variety of U.S. states, Christoff discussed a teaching method that incorporates
different levels and layers of U.S. interactions and connections with the Asian world.
