  • Acceptance Doucments

    Acceptance Packet Handouts

    Once each student's application is evaluated and processed, the IEC will mail an acceptance packet.  Included in the packet will be an acceptance letter, I-20 (if necessary) and most of the documents below. Please read all documents carefully to prepare for your arrival at Stony Brook University.  We have added some documents that we think some students may find informative (*new document links will be updated when the application process starts for each new semester/session).

    Checklist* - This form is outlines all the important information students should know and take care of prior to arrival.

    Health Forms - Scroll down to Required Forms. All IEC students need to complete the forms for international students.  Forms must be completed and uploaded to the Student Health Patient Portal at least 3 weeks before the start of the semester using your NetID and password at:

    Housing & Arrival Information*  - Basic information about housing.  Since the IEC does not provide airport pick-up, we have also provided some reliable shuttle services to bring students safely to campus.

    Student Calendar*  - Important dates or all students

    Fees*  - An estimated overview of all IEC and University fees per semester/session

    Visa Information - Helpful to students applying for an F-1 visa

    Campus Map - Helpful to all students

    SIM Card   - Allows you to start using your phone as soon as you enter the US with prepaid service.

  • Orientation Information

    IEC Orientation

    NEW STUDENT Orientation for the Fall 2019 semester is August 26, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in Lecture Halls #1 & #2 in the Wang Center.     (campus map)

    The date, time and place of your IEC Orientation can be found on your acceptance letter.  Please be sure to read this letter carefully.  IEC Orientation is mandatory and all new and continuing students are expected to attend.

    During orientation we will cover the following information:

    • Introduction of IEC staff and instructors
    • Academic calendar and import dates
    • Immigration Information
    • Class Schedule - morning and afternoon
    • Placement testing
    • Getting Your ID Card
    • Paying Bills
    • Health Insurance
    • SOLAR and BlackBoard
    • Important Places on Campus

    *Conditional students do not attend any  other orientations in addition to the IEC Orientation.

  • Transfer Out

    Transferring Out of the IEC

    If you wish to attend another school or English program, you will have to request a transfer from IEC to that school. Please be aware of these important facts:

    • While you may apply to several schools, you must select the school you will attend before requesting a transfer of your SEVIS record.
    • Once your SEVIS record is released (transferred), we will no longer have access to make any changes to your SEVIS record.
    • We cannot complete a transfer without proof of acceptance from the new school.
    • Your SEVIS record must be transferred out NO LATER than 60 days from the last day of your attendance of the IEC.

    If you've been admitted to a U.S. institution and wish to have your SEVIS record  transferred, you must complete the  Transfer Out Request  in  accessVIS and upload the following items to when prompted:

    1. Acceptance Letter issued by the U.S. school or institution you wish to  transfer to.
    2. A receipt from Student Accounts showing all outstanding balances have been paid. Need help finding your Paperless Billing Statement  Click here!
    3. Transfer In’ form from new school/program (if applicable).
    Click here to login into accessVIS (
    • Click the "Full Services" link on the accessVIS homepage.
    • Enter your NetID and Password.
    • Click on  IEC Student Services (located on the left sidebar toward the bottom of the webpage)
    • Complete and submit  Transfer Out Request .

    Once your request has been submitted, this will generate an email to the IEC for approval.  Once approved, the Visa & Immigration Office will transfer your record out.
