UPDATE: Completed
With the support of VP and Dean area leadership, the institution initiated its first formal employee engagement survey effort. Early planning discussions focused on identifying workplace culture priorities, employee needs, and opportunities for stronger communication and retention strategies.
This discovery process evaluated whether a university-wide engagement survey would be valuable and feasible. Leadership reviewed existing feesback mechanisms, benchmarked against peer institutions, and confirmed strong institutional readiness for a full scale launch.
The assessment validated broad interest in moving forward. A roadmap was established for vendor selection, survey branding, and project governance.
UPDATE: Completed
Following a formal RFP and state bidding process, ModernThink (MT) was selected as the survey partner. MT’s national reputation and extensive higher education benchmark dataset will allow the institution to compare results against peer colleges and universities across the country.
An implementation team composed of HR leaders and staff was formed in December 2024, with an official kickoff meeting held on January 16, 2025 to establish roles, milestones, and engagement strategies.
To ensure consistency in communications, “Be Heard” was selected as the official identity of the survey — a message that underscores the project’s commitment to listening and transparency.
UPDATE: Completed
A coordinated outreach plan was launched using emails, flyers, memos, and a video campaign. Employee Appreciation Day on March 7, 2025 was used to build excitement and announce the upcoming survey.
On March 24, all eligible employees received secure invitations from ModernThink to participate. Due to strong early interest, the response window was extended through April 11 to maximize participation.
UPDATE: In Progress
ModernThink is currently compiling and analyzing the Be Heard survey data. Results will include both quantitative benchmarking and qualitative insight into key themes and employee sentiment.
The Be Heard survey achieved a 40% response rate — an outstanding foundation for a first-time institutional engagement survey. In
the coming months, your feedback will guide meaningful improvements across the campus
community.
We are committed to building a culture where engagement surveys become a valued part
of how we listen, learn, and continuously improve.
Once results are received:
- Results will be shared openly on this HR Now website.
- Faculty and staff feedback sessions will be hosted to review themes and reactions.
- Priority areas will be identified based on data and staff input.
- Action plans will be developed to turn insight into measurable progress.
