Denise Hannaoui

Denise Hannaoui's headshotDenise Hannaoui first graduated from Stony Brook University with a BA in Linguistics and TESOL certification and began her career as an elementary ESL/ENL teacher in Lawrence Public Schools. She then went on to earn an MA in TESOL from Stony Brook University, and she also completed an MS in Instructional Technology from the New York Institute of Technology. After 18 years of teaching, she decided that she would like to expand her role by becoming an educational administrator.

She earned her administrative certificates from The College of St. Rose and enjoyed more than eleven years in educational administrative positions in Lawrence Public Schools, Nassau BOCES, and the Connetquot Central School District on Long Island.  Denise also held board and executive director positions in the NYS Association of World Language Administrators organization (NYSAWLA) for over 9 years. NYSAWLA is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to providing professional development and support to language administrators throughout New York State. She played essential roles in expanding the organization’s reach and in creating and distributing the regionally developed FLACS Checkpoint A and B world language exams, which are used by over 150 districts throughout New York State.

Denise has infused her love of technology into her work over the years and continues to enjoy sharing her knowledge and expertise with her current students, who are seeking TESOL certification at SBU. She currently serves as the supervisor and instructor of TESOL teacher candidates and continues to enjoy all aspects of her profession.
