Entry Requirements

For Attending Commencement Ceremonies in LaValle Stadium

Guests in LaValle Stadium must follow all current health and safety guidelines. In accordance with CDC and NYS guidance:

  • Those fully vaccinated are no longer required to wear masks.
  • Those unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated are required to wear masks, and those who are immunocompromised are encouraged to do so as well.
  • Seating for all guests will maintain six feet of social distance between parties. Graduates and their guests are encouraged to maintain social distance from others at all times.

Guests will also be required to provide proof of recent COVID-19 testing or vaccination before being allowed in the stadium.  View the entry requirements for students, guests, faculty, staff and vendors here.

All students, guests, faculty, staff, and vendors must comply with the following: 

To enter LaValle Stadium, you must show a form of identification that includes your name and photo (Stony Brook ID card for students, driver’s license, passport, or other form of identification.)  

You must also show ONE of the following forms of proof that match the name on your identification.  Acceptable forms of proof include mobile application, screenshot, image, or paper form.  The documentation must include your name. You will not be permitted to enter the stadium without this documentation .

 

1. Proof of completed vaccination (2 weeks after your second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine).  

Your final dose must be completed as follows:

Attending May 19 ceremony → final dose of COVID vaccine by Wednesday, May 5.

Attending May 20 ceremony → final dose of COVID vaccine by Thursday, May 6

Attending May 21 ceremony → final dose of COVID vaccine by Friday, May 7

Proof of vaccination must include your name and can be shown via downloading the NY Excelsior Pass on your phone or showing a hard copy or photo of your completed vaccination card.

2. Proof of negative results from a PCR test taken within 72 hours of the ceremony.  

Your PCR test must be completed as follows:

Attending May 19 ceremony → PCR test taken no earlier than Sunday, May 16

Attending May 20 ceremony → PCR test taken no earlier than Monday, May 17

Attending May 21 ceremony → PCR test taken no earlier than Tuesday, May 18

Proof of negative test lab results must include your name and state either “negative” or “not detected.”  A hard copy or photo/screenshot of the test result is acceptable. Results that say pending will not be accepted.

NOTE:  Students who take their COVID test at the designated testing location on Stony Brook’s campus prior the ceremony will receive a SBU COVID test pass to show as proof.   

3. Proof of negative results from an antigen test taken within 6 hours of the ceremony.

Attending May 19 ceremony → Antigen test taken on Wednesday, May 19

Attending May 20 ceremony → Antigen test taken on Thursday, May 20

Attending May 21 ceremony → Antigen test taken on Friday, May 21

Proof of negative test lab results must include your name and state either “negative” or “not detected.”  A hard copy or photo/screenshot of the test result is acceptable. Results that say pending will not be accepted.

PLEASE SEE BELOW EXAMPLES OF COVID-19 TESTS THAT WILL BE ACCEPTED: 

  • Any COVID-19 test result that says “Molecular”, “diagnostic” or “assay”
  • RNA, DNA, PCR tests
  • All tests that say rapid antigen

4. Recovered (within the prior 90 days) from COVID-19 infection:

If you have fully recovered from a lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 in the last three months, and do not have any recent or current symptoms, you are not required to produce a recent negative diagnostic test result, but must provide proof of illness and recovery (e.g., proof of a prior positive test result or completed order of isolation within the last 90 days via a note from a doctor or medical provider that includes your name.)


COVID-19 Safety Protocols

To ensure a safe graduation ceremony, all attendees are expected to follow the COVID-19 protocols listed below.  Children who are 5 years or older are required to abide by all COVID guidelines including testing for entry into the event.  We appreciate your cooperation.  Attendees must:

  • Not have any COVID symptoms prior to attending the event. Students, faculty and staff, please complete your CampusClear prior to coming to campus. 
  • Agree to provide contact information. This information is for use in potential contact tracing efforts.
  • Provide a negative COVID test result if using the test method for entry.  Entry will not be permitted if the test result is positive.
  • Those fully vaccinated are no longer required to wear masks.
  • Those unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated are required to wear masks, and those who are immunocompromised are encouraged to do so as well.
  • Seating for all guests will maintain six feet of social distance between parties. Graduates and their guests are encouraged to maintain social distance from others at all times. Children must remain with their family at all times. 
  • Practice coughing etiquette for covering a sneeze or cough to prevent the spread of infection.
