PhD Biomedical Engineering // MD Medicine

Associate Professor of Medicine and Cardiology and Director of the Center for Inherited Cardiovascular Diseases in the Zena and Michael A. Wiener Cardiovascular Institute and the Cardiovascular Research Institute, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai

  • Led research to improve understanding of hereditary cardiovascular disorders, including the discovery of new genetic links to myocarditis
  • Research focused on a hereditary form of amyloidosis affecting African American and Hispanic communities
  • Performed collaborative research and developed rehabilitation techniques for patients suffering from the aftereffects of COVID-19
  • Oversaw undergraduate research mentoring programs for the Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Program at Stony Brook University
