SUNY SOAR - this CIE-URECA partnership program provides summer research opportunities for students
who are first-generation college students or economically disadvantaged. The SUNY
SOAR program provides on-campus housing, plus a stipend and meal allowance. Application
deadline: MARCH 24, 2026
Oncology Research and Clinical Learning Experience (ORACLE) Program - new for summer 2026! - this program is geared towards aspiring physician-scientists
with interests in cancer research. ORACLE is housed within Stony Brook’s Cancer Center
and the Medical Scientist Training Program . The ORACLE program provides a stipend
of 5,000, and a housing and meal allowance. Application link and deadline: MARCH 1, 2026

Offers financial support to undergraduate students participating in unpaid credit-bearing
internship/research experiences. The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Services
handles the disbursement of funds. This funding is provided by SUNY to help alleviate
financial barriers associated with unpaid opportunities. Applications accepted on
a semesterly basis.

The inaugural SUNY Undergraduate Excellence in Research Award recognizes undergraduates whose research or creative activity demonstrates innovation, excellence, and meaningful contributions to their fields of study. Each campus may submit one nominee to SUNY for consideration. This competitive award showcases the breadth and impact of undergraduate research in all disciplines, including the arts, humanities, social sciences, STEM, professional disciplines, and interdisciplinary areas. Non-traditional research and creative projects are encouraged.
To be eligible, nominees must: Be enrolled as an undergraduate student at a SUNY campus during the 2026-2027 academic year (December 2026 graduates not eligible); have undertaken a significant SBU faculty-supervised research or creative activity project. Per SUNY guidelines, preference is given to nominees who are from a low-income background (Pell grant recipients), first generation college students, AmeriCorps alumni, and/or veterans .
