First Year Deadline

Stony Brook University offers many exciting and unique opportunities for your high achieving students. First Year applicants must complete their application to the University for the fall semester by January 15 to receive the fullest consideration for merit scholarships and honors programs.

Early Action

Stony Brook follows an Early Action application process, which means for students who apply by our Early Action deadline of November 1, you will receive a decision by the end of January. Applying early also gives you priority consideration for select academic programs and special university programs. You submit your application and all required application items by November 1.

Notification of Admission Decisions

First year applicants who apply by the regular decision deadline of January 15 are reviewed for admission to the University and notified by April 1. First year applicants who apply by the early application deadline of November 1 will receive an admissions decision by the end of January.

Final Transcripts

High schools must send final, official transcripts of students enrolling at Stony Brook as soon as they are available to:
