You are a first-year applicant if you plan to enter SBU in the fall or spring after graduating from high school and have never received or completed college credit since your high school graduation or the completion of your GED.

You have completed, plan to complete or will have completed coursework at a regionally accredited college or university after graduating high school and before enrolling at SBU (excluding the summer term immediately following high school).

You are an international student who will have an F-1 student visa or another type of temporary, non-immigrant visa.

Visa Classifications

You already hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and wish to pursue a different Bachelor’s degree at Stony Brook.

You are a previous undergraduate student that enrolled and completed credits at Stony Brook and would like to return to complete a degree.

For students applying to upper-division paths (Accelerated, Basic, or RN to Baccalaureate) leading to a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Requires specific science prerequisites.

For students applying to the upper-division Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT) to become practitioners treating respiratory and cardiovascular issues.

For students applying to the upper-division program leading to a Bachelor of Science. Graduates are eligible for National MLS ASCP Board Certification and NYS licensure.

For students applying to the upper-division Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSW) program to prepare for careers in health and social welfare.

You wish to take courses for credit during the Fall, Spring, Summer, or Winter sessions, but do not intend to pursue a Stony Brook degree.

You have already completed an undergraduate degree and are applying for a Master’s, Doctoral, or Advanced Certificate program.
