Arabic at Stony Brook University
Stony Brook University's Arabic program introduces students to Modern Standard Arabic and the language, history, and culture of the Arabic-speaking world.
Courses
Students who wish to take an informal assessment to get permission to enroll in ARB 112 must be able to do the following.
- Pronounce and write the entire Arabic alphabet and numbers from 1 -10
- Read and write short sentences in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA)
- Name at least 300 objects in MSA (not colloquial Arabic)
- Hold brief conversations in MSA (self-introduction, greeting, etc.)
