How to Participate in the Language Ambassador Program

Share your language-learning experience and encourage other Stony Brook students to explore language study.

The LLRC Language Ambassador Program invites students to create a short video about their experience studying a language at Stony Brook, including why they chose it, what they gained from it, and why they think other students should give language learning a try.

Who Can Participate?

Any undergraduate or graduate student who is currently taking or has previously taken a language course at Stony Brook.

What to Submit

Record a 30–60 second video about your experience. You might talk about:

  • Why you chose to study the language
  • A memorable class or experience
  • How language study changed your perspective or goals
  • Friendships or connections you made
  • Study abroad, cultural events, conversation groups, or other activities
  • Something you learned that translation tools alone can't capture
  • Advice for students considering a language course

Tips

  • Keep It Simple
  • Speak primarily in English; feel free to include some of the language you studied
  • Record on your phone, tablet, or computer
  • Clear audio matters more than professional editing
  • MP4 or MOV preferred; maximum file size 100 MB
  • Horizontal or vertical video is fine

Become an LLRC Language Ambassador

Students whose videos are selected will receive an LLRC Language Ambassador Commendation, and their videos may be featured on the LLRC website and in university outreach materials.

Each year, outstanding Language Ambassadors will also be recognized at an LLRC campus event.

Ready to Participate?

Submit your video through the Language Ambassador Submission Form.

We’ll ask for some basic information about you and your language study, as well as how you would like to be identified if your video is featured.
