LACS GRADUATE FELLOWSHIPS

Mariposa Conference Award

During Fall 2025, the Latin American and Caribbean Studies (LACS) program is instituting the Mariposa Conference Award for a non-citizen graduate student of Latin American, U.S. Latinx, or Caribbean background. The award supports conference presentation travel for graduate students whose immigration status (undocumented, DACA, international, etc.) makes them ineligible for many U.S. funding opportunities.

The selected student will receive $500–$1000, which LACS will use to cover airfare, hotel, and related conference expenses. The award is open to all disciplines; however, applicants must be presenting at the conference, not only attending. Recipient status will remain confidential. Funds may be used through the end of the 2025–2026 academic year.

Application deadline: October 10 at 5:00 PM
