DAAD-RISE | Goldwater Scholarship

Ronan Tiu is a junior double majoring in Physics and Mathematics with a minor in Chemistry. With a primary research interest in applying physical principles to biomedical challenges, he has cultivated a diverse research portfolio. His work began in nuclear physics with the Deshpande Group atStony Brook University and has since expanded through specialized programs in Biophysics at Indiana University Indianapolis, Medical Physics at Harvard University, and Biomedical Optics at MIT.

Ronan views the Goldwater Scholarship as a pivotal step in his professional development, particularly in learning how to frame complex research for broader audiences. The process has clarified his career objectives and equipped him with the skills necessary to pursue competitive academic grants. He is eager to join the Goldwater community for the mentorship opportunities it provides as he prepares for doctoral studies. Seeking to complement this with global experience, his upcoming DAAD RISE fellowship will allow him to contribute to impactful research in an international setting outside of the U.S.

Ronan is a member of the Simons STEM Scholars Program on campus.
