Entrepreneurship & Innovation Resources

Turn Your Ideas Into Impact

Explore. Build. Innovate.

Whether you want to explore entrepreneurship, join an innovation team, build a prototype, commercialize research or launch a venture, Stony Brook offers resources that can help you take the next step.

You do not need to have a company — or even a fully developed idea — to begin. ECE students can gain experience by joining multidisciplinary projects, working with researchers, learning from entrepreneurs and helping existing teams solve technical challenges.

Launch & Grow a Venture

Stony Brook’s incubator network supports startups and young companies through office and laboratory space, business-development assistance, workshops, mentorship, access to university expertise and connections to early-stage financing.

The network supports ventures across fields including advanced materials, biotechnology, clean energy, software, information technology and hardware. Companies that do not require physical space may also be able to participate through nonresident programs.

The Long Island High Technology Incubator supports early-stage, technology-based businesses and helps bridge the gap between university research and commercial development.

Its location on the Stony Brook campus gives participating companies access to research facilities, university expertise, business services and student talent.

The Long Island Innovation Hot Spot supports qualifying early-stage technology, life-science and manufacturing companies based on Long Island.

Potential benefits include professional support services, funding connections, mentorship, startup visibility and New York State tax incentives. This resource is most appropriate for ventures that have progressed beyond the initial idea stage.
