Student Advising & Support

Students in the EE Online Program receive support and advising from a team of staff and faculty. General advising is available through the College of Engineering & Applied Sciences Undergraduate Student Office. All students receive proactive communication from professional advisors who track degree progress, and their advising point of contact is available to connect students with co-curricular support. EEO students also have access to all other Stony Brook University resources, from career advising to mental health support.

Stony Brook Policy for Taking Time Off

As outlined in the University Policy, beginning on the first day of classes in any fall or spring semester, any student who wishes to drop to zero-credit enrollment must process a semester withdrawal. Prior to the start of the term, students may take a leave of absence by simply dropping all enrolled courses. Students should consult the Academic Calendar to understand their tuition liability. With limited exceptions, students are permitted to take a one-semester (fall or spring) leave of absence and re-enroll without penalty.

Students are encouraged to consult with an advisor before taking a leave of absence to understand the implications and the process for re-enrollment.

The program faculty and staff are committed to the continuous improvement of the program and welcome all feedback. They are here to provide support and guidance throughout your experience in the program. Please contact us with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Students enrolled in the BSEE Online Program may be eligible for financial aid. Visit the Financial Aid website for more information.
