EE Online Mission

The BSEE online program is an upper-division program intended for traditional students seeking a flexible schedule while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, as well as nontraditional students who may have work and family responsibilities while enrolled in the program.

The ECE Department seeks to educate engineers in the BSEE online program who will possess the fundamental concepts, tools, skills, and vision necessary to maintain the technological and economic competitiveness of the United States. The Department achieves this through a balance of required courses and carefully selected technical electives across three stages of undergraduate study in electrical engineering. The first stage, usually completed before students enter the Stony Brook BSEE online program, provides students with a foundation in mathematics and science. The second stage teaches fundamental techniques for the analysis and design of systems. The third stage provides in-depth study of specialized areas of electrical engineering through a selection of technical electives.
