David Ferguson was a Distinguished Service Professor of Technology and Society and Applied Mathematics and Statistics at Stony Brook University. Previously, he was chair of the Department of Technology and Society. His research and teaching were intertwined and focus on issues of Quantitative reasoning; Problem solving; Use and assessment of educational technologies; Technology in mathematics, science and engineering education; and Decision Making.

Lester Paldy holds appointments as Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus in this department and the Department of Pathology and is Distinguished Visiting Scholar in the Center for Medical Humanities, Compassionate Care, and Bioethics. He teaches the global issues course in the University Honors College and his current work focuses on the requirement for informed consent of human subjects participating in medical research. He is an elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. His government service includes appointments to U.S. Department of State delegations negotiating nuclear weapon agreements in Geneva and UN and service as a Marine officer in Korea.
