Ecological Modeling and Theory Postdoctoral Researcher, University of Texas at Austin

To work on the NSF-funded project "Testing the Role that Biotic Interactions Play in the Latitudinal Diversity Gradient: A Chemical Community Ecology Approach to Understanding Tree Diversity," the Ostling Lab and the Sedio Lab at the University of Texas at Austin are looking to jointly hire a postdoctoral researcher. A PhD in a quantitative or biological subject is required of applicants. Strong work ethics, outstanding interpersonal and time management abilities, and a track record of publishing scientific research are required of applicants.

The Department of Biology at Whitman College is seeking to fill a long-term, non-tenure-track Lecturer position in ecology and evolution.  The position will begin August 2024. Applicants must have a Master’s or Ph.D. in biology by the time of appointment.

Position Overview: As a department, we are excited to be designing a new introductory 2-course series for our prospective life science majors. The successful candidate will teach lecture and lab sections of the first course “Evolution, Ecology, and Diversity,” as well as one to two courses per year in their areas of interest. We especially welcome expertise that differs from existing departmental offerings, including newly emerging and interdisciplinary subfields of biology.

The standard annual teaching load is five courses, with each lab section counting as a half course. The College provides programming and grant funding to support innovations and growth in teaching. Lecturers also have access to funding for professional development activities and have the opportunity to apply for promotion to Senior Lecturer status after four years.

Curator, Professor, and Chief Conservation Scientist

The Curator, Professor, and Chief Conservation Scientist at the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) is expected to expand the museum's conservation efforts and strengthen collaborations with other areas of AMNH science. The successful candidate should be an active scientist interested in collaboration with Museum staff and have a strong interest in conservation. AMNH offers resources such as world-class collections, research libraries, and laboratories. The successful candidate will also serve as an ambassador for the museum's conservation mission, representing it to various stakeholders. The expected salary range is $140,000-185,000, with pay determined by factors such as skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, specialization, and experience.

The American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) seeks a Curator in the area of Conservation Science. This is a tenured position with rank negotiable depending on the candidate’s professional experience and accomplishments. The successful candidate for this position will be appointed as a Curator in one of the Divisions (Anthropology, Invertebrate Zoology, Paleontology, Physical Sciences, or Vertebrate Zoology) and as a Professor in the Richard Gilder Graduate School at the AMNH as well as hold the title Chief Conservation Scientist in the Center for Biodiversity and Conservation (CBC).

Assistant Professor – Organismal Biology

The Department of Biology at Rhodes College seeks qualified applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in organismal biology (including but not limited to plant biology, freshwater biology or invertebrate biology) to begin in August 2024. Other teaching opportunities include an additional upper-level course in the candidate’s area of specialty and senior seminar.

Post Doc Research Fellow: Floral Rewards and Insect Physiology

The Department of Biological Sciences at North Dakota State University has a 12-month, postdoctoral fellowship, beginning 1 November 2023 or as soon thereafter following hiring approval. The successful candidate will work with a group of core faculty as part of a large project on how floral resources affect insect pollinators and pests. The postdoctoral researcher will work on multiple research projects focusing on how the alfalfa leafcutting bee is affected by pollinator plantings at the organismal and tissue levels. In addition to working with project personnel at NDSU and the USDA-ARS, the postdoctoral fellow will mentor graduate and undergraduate assistants. The starting salary is $50,000. Support is for three years, contingent on positive annual reviews.
