CPOE INITIATIVES
Accelerated College Education
Initiative: Facilitate rapid growth and expansion of Stony Brook University’s Accelerated College Education (ACE) program.
The ACE program provides opportunities for NYS students to earn SBU college credit while in high school. We look to double the program over the next three years through a combination of adding new partner high schools and adding new SBU academic courses/departments. ACE helps bend the cost curve of higher education, strengthen the ties between subject area high school teachers and university faculty, and positively contribute to student confidence about the transition from high school to college.
Online Education
Initiative: Develop central resources, support structures, and coordinating mechanisms to support academic leadership and faculty in other SBU schools and colleges in the development and operation of online programs.
Pre-College Programs
Initiative: Provide greater access and support growth in experiential learning programs for pre-college populations by leveraging SBU academic areas of excellence and collaborating with key educational and community stakeholders.
This includes growing innovative programs like the Pre-College Summer (PCS) Program and working with colleagues across the East and West campus to convene programs throughout the academic year that invite discovery and inspire imaginations.

Teacher Education
Initiative: Showcase the enormous success of the teacher education program at Stony Brook University through the School of Professional Development.
This uniquely structured program has developed a well-earned reputation for producing some of the best middle and high school teachers on Long Island. Working with colleagues across the campus, we will work to leverage our extensive relationships with teachers and educational administrators across Long Island to ensure that they, their students, and their students’ families, are more aware of the opportunities and SBU program pathways to becoming a teacher.

Intergenerational Learning
Initiative: Promote and support programs that are geared toward intergenerational learning.
Our efforts include making visible and celebrating the accomplishments of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Stony BrookUniversity, weekend community-based schools (the Institute for Creative Problem Solving, School Nova, the Chinese School, and the German School) and looking for unique ways to strengthen the bonds and intersectionality between these community-rich organizations and SBU faculty, researchers, students, and staff.
