EOP Students

Steps to Enroll

Log onto the SOLAR System, using your Stony Brook ID number and password. Click on "EOP/AIM Accept/Decline" and accept our offer by the date indicated on your letter of admission. If we do not receive your response by this date, you will lose your space in our class. EOP students are not required to pay tuition and housing deposits, or the Orientation fee.

*All new first-year EOP students are guaranteed housing if you enroll by our deadline. To offer as many students as possible the experience of our residential learning environment, strategies that include assigning three students to a double room and other options will be utilized.

Admitted student requirements will be listed out in your StartSBU portal. Once your requirements are fulfilled, you will see a checklist highlighting items that you need to complete. Your checklist items are personalized based on a variety of factors unique to you. For a full list of your checklist items, please visit your StartSBU portal.

A Note From Housing

*Apply for campus housing and select your meal plan in the Campus Housing Portal. You will receive an e-mail with specific dates and deadlines when the portal becomes available to incoming students in November for spring admits and May for fall admits.

If housing demand greatly exceeds available spaces, Campus Residences will first implement assigning three students to a double room to offer as many students as possible the experience of our residential learning environment and if needed, implement a radius policy to prioritize housing to students who live farther away first.

EOP/AIM Pre-Freshman Summer Academy

This five-week summer program of intense academics is an integral part of the EOP/AIM program at Stony Brook. All EOP/AIM students are expected to earn a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 during the summer program. The program provides a richly rewarding academic experience for participants. The courses of study are Mathematics, Africana Studies, Philosophy and Writing.

Some students enter the summer program with apprehension, perhaps because they would prefer to stay home and work. However, most students look back over the five weeks and realize the enormous academic and social benefits they received from the summer program experience. These benefits carry over into the academic year. Our research shows that summer program participants tend to perform better than non-participants.

The 2024 EOP/AIM Summer Academy is proposed to run from:

Tuesday, July 5 to Tuesday, August 2

The EOP/AIM Summer Academy Completion and New Seawolf Welcome Week will be from:

Monday, August 19 to Saturday, August 24

You will receive more details about your EOP/AIM Welcome & Advisement date and the Summer Academy in May.
