Steps to Enroll

Log onto the SOLAR System, using your Stony Brook ID number and password. Click on "EOP/AIM Accept/Decline" and accept our offer by the date indicated on your letter of admission. If we do not receive your response by this date, you will lose your space in our class. EOP/AIM students are not required to pay tuition and housing deposits, or the Orientation fee.

Complete your New Student Preferences by May 1 . Use our online form in SOLAR to tell us your preferences for First Year Undergraduate Colleges, Orientation, meal plans, and more.

All new EOP/AIM students are guaranteed housing. To offer as many students as possible the experience of our residential learning environment, strategies that include assigning three students to a double room and other options will be utilized.

Next Steps

Steps to complete after those above. Starting in April, several days after completing the steps above, you’ll receive your NetID, which will serve as your single sign-on login for many University systems, including the campus housing portal and your SBU e-mail.

Apply for campus housing and select your meal plan in the Campus Housing Portal. You will receive an e-mail with specific dates and deadlines when the portal becomes available to incoming students in Novemebr for spring admits and May for fall admits.

Commuter students may sign up for meal plans by completing a Faculty Student Association form. Residential students sign up for meal plans in the Campus Housing Portal (do not use this form).
Click on "Financial Aid" in SOLAR to accept/decline your awards online.
1. The Immunization/Meningitis Form is due December 1 for spring and August 1 for fall.

2. The Health Form must be submitted before the first day of classes.

Copies of the immunization form or immunization history may be uploaded to the Student Health Patient Portal.

The Student Accessibility Support Center works collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff to create an inclusive educational environment for all students, including those with temporary or permanent mental health, chronic health, sensory ability, physical health/mobility, and cognitive disabilities.
- Initially, you will meet with one of our Accessibility Support Counselors to discuss your needs, review your documentation, and together decide if educational, housing, and/or classroom accommodations are appropriate.
- Each semester, you and your Accessibility Support Counselor will meet to renew accommodations.

After receiving virtual new student program information in mid-May, tell us more about your academic interests, AP scores, and transfer credits. You will also use this form to sign up for placement exams.

Stony Brook requires all full time students to have comprehensive health insurance, and provides a plan for purchase by those who do not currently have such a plan. If you already have health insurance, you must apply for a health insurance waiver or you will be automatically billed for SB's plan. Once you register for classes, a fee for health insurance will be posted on your account. Log on to SOLAR and look for insurance waivers under “Student Financial Services” on the menu bar.
Please do not request a Handshake account, one will be created for you ONE WEEK AFTER registering for classes. After your New Student Program, you will be able to access your Stony Brook Handshake profile by using your NetID and password. Handshake is the Career Center’s database of off- and on-campus jobs, internships, co-ops, and volunteer positions. Learn more about Handshake. Once you have access to Handshake, subscribe to one or more Career Communities (under the Career Center tab) to tailor your account by career interest.
