John Huttie, '17:

I graduated from Stony Brook University with a B.A. in Political Science in 2017 and later graduated with my M.A. in Public Policy in 2018 after joining the Accelerated BA/MA Public Policy program. As an undergraduate I was a teaching assistant for two Sociology courses. While a graduate student I was an intern in the Suffolk County Executive’s Office. At the conclusion of the internship I was offered a full time position in the Division of Community Affairs in the Office of the Suffolk County Executive. I am currently the Community Affairs Manager for County Executive Steve Bellone.

As Community Affairs Manager my responsibilities include briefing, staffing, scheduling, and event coordinating for the County Executive. In addition, I research and respond to all constituent inquiries, I draft all letters on behalf of the County Executive, I assisted with the smooth implementation of Suffolk County’s 311 call center, and I am the coordinator of the Suffolk County internship program. Lastly, I am the County Executive's community outreach representative for key Economic Development initiatives such as the Ronkonkoma Hub, Bus-Rapid Transit, and other ConnectLI projects.

Myself and my team are the lead coordinators of events such as the County Executive’s yearly “State of the County” and the Suffolk County Marathon.
