Journalism Without Walls is the School of Communication and Journalism's overseas reporting opportunity. During the weeks-long program, students travel with faculty to experience and report on life in different cultures around the globe. All travel and accommodation expenses are funded by the Marie Colvin Center. 

The trip takes place during summer or winter break. Students are required to take a 3-credit, on-campus course to learn about the country they will be traveling to and to begin to lay the groundwork for finding and reporting stories.

CSIS Journalism Bootcamp

Washington, D.C.

In May 2026, journalism students connected with policy experts and multimedia specialists at the Center for Strategic and International Studies to report on global issues.

Their investigation, At Arm's Length: Military Technology Cooperation Within The Russia-Iran Partnership, explored the evolving military-technology cooperation between Russia and Iran, and its geopolitical implications.

All travel and accommodation expenses were funded by the CSIS.
