This teaching milestone focuses on the topic of diversity, equity, and inclusivity
at the higher education level. Starting with our Inclusive Pedagogy Course, topics
such as positionality, anti-racist pedagogy, accessibility, and more will be covered
to introduce key topics and terminology within diversity, equity, and inclusivity
studies. The inclusive pedagogy milestone will allow learners to become an agent of
change and contribute to building a more connected and harmonious world, one where
everyone's voice is valued, and differences are celebrated.

This asynchronous course offers a safe space for you to explore the fundamental concepts
of diversity, equity, and inclusivity with their fellow colleagues. You will be introduced
to key topics, terminology, and best practices within diversity, equity, and inclusivity
studies focusing on topics such as positionality, anti-racist pedagogy, accessibility,
and more. Through interactive discussions and thought-provoking activities, you will
be able to gain the tools to challenge biases, promote equity, and foster inclusive
environments in both personal and professional settings.
This asynchronous course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and strategies
that help to foster the essential elements that promote a sense of belonging, respect,
and empowerment for every student.We will explore how to celebrate diversity in all
its forms - cultural, linguistic, and cognitive as well as learn best practices for
creating a classroom that embraces the uniqueness of each student and fosters an atmosphere
where everyone feels valued and included. The workshop will also discuss practical
strategies that can be implemented in the design of your classroom that promote collaboration,
accessibility, and engagement as well as how to curate resources and course content
that represents the diverse identities and learning needs of all students.
This workshop will focus on how to foster a culture of inclusive participation and
engagement in the learning environment. The workshop will discuss strategies to unlock
the full potential of every student, how to create an environment where diverse voices
are heard, valued, and celebrated, and highlight active learning strategies that can
engage students and ignite curiosity as well as the impact of language and how to
use inclusive language to facilitate inclusive classroom dialogues and discussions
on sensitive topics in a manner that allows students to share their experiences and
learn from one another.
During this workshop, participants will gain insights into the common accessibility
barriers found in digital content and technologies used in education. We will review
strategies and resources for making digital content and online courses more accessible
to learners. We will also explore the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework
that helps educators ensure all learners can access and participate in meaningful
learning experiences.
This workshop is dedicated to the process of developing course content that celebrates
diversity and honors the diverse perspectives and experiences within the learning
environment. We will explore how to create or locate inclusive learning materials,
plan activities that learners can connect to, how to engage students and colleagues
in the course content design process, and explore strategies that focus on how to
create a truly inclusive educational experience.
This workshop is dedicated to the importance of discovering, understanding, and appreciating
the diverse cultures that shape our educational landscape. We will discuss ways to
embrace cultural diversity, strategies for participants to use to improve their intercultural
communication skills, important concepts that support cultural awareness, and how
to cultivate empathy in the learning environment to better relate to and support the
needs of students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
This workshop will focus on how to effectively and constructively address conflicts
in the inclusive classroom and foster an environment that promotes self-reflection
and accountability. We will discuss tools and strategies to assist in navigating challenges
in the classroom with empathy and promote accountability in the inclusive classroom.
We will also explore how to embrace conflicts as teachable moments, valuable conflict
resolution strategies, and communication strategies to ensure that our classroom always
remains open and respectful even during moments of conflict.
This workshop will introduce the neurodiversity paradigm model as well as important
terminology and concepts associated with neurodiversity education including common
forms of neurodiversity. We will discuss common obstacles that neurodiverse students
might encounter in their coursework as well as strategies and resources that can help
to support neurodivergent students. Participants will also brainstorm methods that
can be applied to their own courses to create an inclusive and accessible learning
environment for neurodivergent students.
